Dell inspiron 15R touchscreen stopped working.

I've had my laptop for about a week now and the touch screen has stopped working last night. The last time I used it I turned it on sleep mode, then when I came back home, it wasn't working anymore. I tried calibrating it and running the troubleshooter, but nothing has helped.

unfortunately, after clicking the human interface device, there was no touch screen drivers to click on... my touch screen capabilities seem to come and go.  Please help diagnose this.

It is unfortunate that the touchscreen is not working. Request you to try following the below steps and check if it works:

(1) Move the mouse pointer to the top right corner and click on search.

(2) Now type device in the search box, select settings and hit enter.

(3) On the left side device manager appears, click and open it.

(4) In the device manager screen, double click human Interface device and select touchscreen drivers.

(5) Now right click on it and select uninstall.

(6) Now restart the computer and check if the touchscreen works.

If the issue still persists then the computer needs to be refreshed. You may use the below link for information on refresh:

Note: Please backup your files before attempting this.

DELL-KIRAN K -

Thank you so much, I just got my Inspiron about 3 weeks ago, and it froze about 5 minutes ago. I restarted it, then the touch screen didn't work. The first thing I thought was to go to the Dell Community, because there are so many helpful employees and members, like you, who can almost always answer my questions. I uninstalled the driver and restarted the computer, and of course, the touch screen worked again!

Thank you and the rest of the Dell Community for always being there!

I had the same problem and tried everything suggested by others, installing and removing drivers with no luck.  I then came across your post my friend and went a bit further thanks.  Go to this link blog.parts-people.com/.../ ;and follow this to the end.  I then went further and removed the screen cover surround, there is a cable that connects from the mother board for touch screen and this goes to the screen where it has to be clipped in place "sorry I do not know the name of it I am not a computer buff".  The problem that I was experiencing was the touch was intermittent and I noticed that if I pushed the monitor all the way back the keyboard icon would appear in the bottom taskbar and then disappear when moved to the upright position.  I had the laptop for over a year with no problems and then wallop.  I have never taken a laptop apart before but this I found very easy, so do not be afraid just do as the guy tells you in the video and before you take any cables out remember to unlock them.  The screen surround cover is separated easier if you start at the hinge, unfortunately I could not find any videos on this procedure.  Mine actually looks if it is a sealed unit and when you look at spare parts they actually show a complete top cover giving the impression it cannot be separated.  Please feel free to contact me.

Hi, I disabled the touch screen for a short period of time while doing a school assignment and then followed your steps to turn on the touch screen again and now my touch screen is still not working and now the setting is not even there on the list anymore. Please tell me what I should do now??

It's really like they have a loosy connection inside... Because I've just turned off the laptop and made some bumps of it on the bed in usual position and by the right side. And it's started to work!
