Dell Inspiron 17 3721 problems
Hello,
Recently bought Inspiron 3721 ( )
When I try to download some of the driver links are not working. For example Dell Aplication.
I have already installed all of the drivers on my Windows 7 x64,but I'm searching for a program to control my fan.Or a Bios update?
Is there anything for fan control on my laptop because almost all the time it is at max and is getting annoying.
Excuse my english :)

Hi bosk802,
You can check BIOS version of your computer from system BIOS and "MSINFO32" command.
Click on Start -- > Run -- > Type "msinfo32" --> Hit Enter and you would be able to see BIOS version installed. As an example image is shown below:
For more information on "msinfo32", you may refer to link: http://bit.ly/3mXJMx
Another way to check BIOS version is from system BIOS. You can check that by following steps below:
@ Vangelov/ chamilton2345/ Peter2013/ DavidP31:
You may download and install the updated version of BIOS (A05) for Inspiron 3721 (Released on 02/05/2013) from link: http://en.community.dell.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/3518/2211.3721A05.zip
Note: Make sure the ac adapter is connected and the battery is charged 10% or above to update the BIOS. Also, disconnect all the external peripherals before updating the BIOS. All the programs should be closed and documents saved.
Download and extract the file. Double click on the set up file and follow the prompts to complete installation.
Please reply for further clarification.

I have DELL Inspiron 3721 Notebook Core i7 3517U
I also applied that BIOS, so now it is A05
I still have my tiny vacuum cleaner on my desk, its main goal is not to allow above 40C while the processor could endure even 105C, when I tested on full load with prime95 on both cores (or 4 with that other threads or whatever) I received 62C with the same fan RPM
just to be exact: that U in the processor naming means "Ultra-low-voltage"
is it a manufacture flaw? or is it a BIOS or driver failure?

I think the problem is still here with the new bios vA05 too...:emotion-6:
As you can see in my capture, CPU is around 38°C with less than 10% activity, and the CPU fan speed is 5500 RPM.
I suppose it's the max speed, and it's really noisy !
Is it a hardware problem or a Windows problem?

BIOS says it's A03 version.
msinfo32 displays the following information:
Dell Inc. A03, 24.10.2012

@Dell-Chinmay S,
Upgrading the BIOS did not fix the issue.

thanks for the link, but I tried and no use
it is wtill 5400 RPM
maybe someone could confirm the voltage level at idle on a normal working laptop? at my old 4 years old X3 I have manually undervolted to 0.88 Volt which is the very same value like on this ULV wonder intel processor

Hi all! I had the exact same problem with the fan laptop. He always worked for 5400-5600 rpm. Installing a new BIOS and video card drivers did not help.
Speedfan program helped me - it must be put in Set "Support Dell" and then the program will be able to adjust the fan speed. If anyone has any questions, to set up - write to me <ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy>
I spent about an hour on the correct setting, but with computers all my life.

thanks a lot, speedfan solved the problem for my dell 3721 i7-3517U
just a reminder, so intel HD 4000 and speedfan relativelly new version (4.47) is needed
and please use that speedfan with care, it is not automatical so some basic understaning is required
