As suggested earlier in the thread, remove and replace the CMOS battery, preferably with a new CR2032. Take the old one out and wait about 10 seconds, then put the new one in.

Dear Adam_SQL,
thank you so much for helping your follow poor Dell customers. Your solution (opening up the laptop and removing the batterie) worked for me.
I tried so much, next would have been reinstalling windows, that would habe been at least half a day useless work on top.

Dear Dell "customer service"
how comes it is so hard to find the solution to this problem? How comes you seem not to even have confirmed this problem?
It´s your customers who spend hours and hours trying all this useless stuff that you find first when you search for the solution in the web.
Please take this serious, offer a patch or at least publish an easy to find webpage where the error and the solution is named.

Even I am facing the same problem and when i contacted dell technical support they said it is a hardware issue and whole of my power button assembly needs to replace. This will cost me around 6000rs. Is there any other way please? Because 6000rs is a very big amount. Please help!!

See adam_sql's suggested answer in this thread.  If you don't know how to perform the work yourself, you will probably need to take it in to a computer shop that can replace your cmos battery.

There is a pretty good manual on how to take the Laptop apart by Dell. You should find it in the Dell Support. With that you should be able to do it.

open power options by typing"power options " in the search.choose what pressing the power button does>change settings that are currently unavailable. In the shut down settings, uncheck the "turn on fast startup".this should work as it worked for me..

please reply if it works for anyone..

peace!!
