Extend to 3 monitor displays on Dell E6430

How can we extend to 3 monitor displays i.e. One laptop screen and two monitors attached to the docking station; 1 in VGA Port and other in DVI port.

I can get it to extend it to two screens but the third one always gets disconnected.

Is it possible to get this done by using some graphics driver update or is it more of a hardware feature?

System Info:
Dell E6430
64 bit Win 7
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (this is show on two displays in dxdiag)

I'm glad you mentioned that. I have two IPS monitors running at 2560 x 1440 and 2560x1600 and I tried each of them on the DVI and Display port. No resolution option past 1366 x 768 on either connection. That's strange since I can get a 1920 x 1080 from either port on a regular monitor. This makes the thing completely useless for me as I can't two external monitors at 1920x1080 nor can I can't get one at 2560x1440.  I can just use the built in vga for one monitor at 1920x1080.

you should be able to get 2560 x1440 o 2560 x 1600 using the displayport, but you will need an adapter like I got...which cost $100 :(  I asked Dell over and over if I could get it to work without the adapter and they said yes.  I may return it all but I didnt buy directly from Dell.

Is this the adapter you used to enable 2560x1600 BeliefPatrol? Accell UltraAV B087B-002B. It says it will work. Thanks

Yep, that's the one. "Displaylink" has one too...

Were you able to get three monitors working with the 331-6307 and a displayport to DVI adapter? I have a E6430 with the NVidia card, and was unsure if I had to get the more expensive 331-6304 in order to support 3 monitors. Resolution is not as much of a concern to me, since I will be primarily working with excel and adobe.

Thanks!

I could not get it to work on three monitors even with active adapters. And despite what the site says, I do not think there is a way to get it to work. I ended up using a second monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution which can be split into two workable screens. They are expensive though. Good luck

actually i have 4 monitors working all native.  i have

1-32" 2560x1600 using displaylink

1-24"1920x1080 using DVI

1-21" 1440x900 using VGA

1-laptop monitor

I use both video cards that come with this computer.  they both have to be enabled in the bios.

i like the monitor feature, but as a whole i am very upset with dell.  they told me my older DELL 2560x1600 would work via dvd-d and i bought a computer and docking station based on what they told me.  after i got it all and it didnt work, i was very upset.  i was on the phone with tech support, and i swear i know more about their computers than they do.  and im not that techie.  i could not return the system because i bought it from a 3rd party.

it is a good computer, but the company is terrible.  support is terrible, and every time i call i waste hours and hours.  they continually transfer my call to one department to another and another and so on and so on, and in the end i still get no answers.

I am having issues getting mine to extend using the Built-in and the HDMI port. I have no issues with the VGA. I can Duplicate and Extend to the fine just not the HDMI. It will duplicate desktops just not an extension

It is indeed very weird!

How it was working and then stopped just because I removed it from the docking station for a week, I'll never know.  How does the BIOS parameters get reset doing something as basic as that?

But it works now, and life is good! :)

My Dell Latitude E6430 does not have a video setting in BIOS.  I don't see any option to turn on Optimus.  I'm having the same issue--can only drive one external monitor.

Mine is connected to a docking station and I'm using both video outs from that base for the external monitors and have the BIOS setting to permit the laptop screen itself to be my primary display.
With this setup, whenever I disconnect the laptop from the base I get my primary display undisturbed and when I connect it again  I get the two externals as well.  It works seamlessly!

i have a docking station, i have one monitor on vga one on 50 pin and one 30" on display port.  i have both video cards enabled in bios and have laptop monitor functionaing as well!  i love my 4 monitor setup and  can unplug laptop and plug back in seamlessly as well.  I love this system but not too sure i like DELL's service and support... but i guess all big computer companies lack high quality  customer service.
