Inspiron 7737 (17 7000) sleep mode problem

I purchased a Inspiron 17 7000 (7737) with Windows 8.0.

I changed the hard drive for a Crucial M500 900gigs and installed Windows 8.1 Pro. I installed all Dell drivers for 8.1 and I don't have any unknown devices.

My problem is one the laptop goes in sleep mode, I can't allways wake it up. Moving Wireless mouse or touching keyboard or mouse pad, or power button doesn't wake it up. Other times, just moving the mouse works well.

I  changed power setting to not go into sleep mode, only turn off the screen, but it happened again.

I know that Microsoft Update is proposing a new driver for the nvidia 750, but not sure if I should install it.

I too have an Inspiron 17 7737 with this fault, ie the computer goes into sleep whatever you try and do, and to get it out of sleep you have to turn it off by pressing the power button for 5s, then release the button and give it a quick press to start the computer again.

If the computer is left with the power off the battery goes flat !!!

All windows settings associated with 'sleep' are turned off, with 'hibernate' chosen wherever possible.

Intel Rapid start is off.

Interestingly, it went into hibernate with no problems when I was running win8, but the bios and loads of drivers have changed since then !

PLEASE RECOGNISE THIS FAULT DELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It does seem that Rapid Start is the cause - but its not as simple as turning it off in windows - you have to disable it in the BIOS !

That requires jumping through hoops too, as F2 does not seem to work now, so you have to use F12 to get the boot options screen and then go into 'setup'.

Good luck :)

Hi I have the same problem since 3 years. I did turned the "intel rapid start" off in the BIOS! still have the problem. For the last 3 years I have shutted down my computer completely but I am fed up, it takes 2 minutes to start instead of the few seconds it should from just wakingup from sleep mode! Anyone found a real solution???!!!! cheers
