Latitude E6500, integrated Webcam and Windows 7 32-bit

Hi all!

I am using a Dell Latitude E6500 with an integrated webcam which originally was running with Win XP. Now I updated to Windows 7 32-bit, because I am using some applications which are not compatible to the 64-bit version.

Unfortunately a cannot find a driver for the integrated webcam and Windows 7 32-bit. I find drivers for WinXP, Vista and Win7 64-bit - but not for the 32-bit version.

Can anyone help me please? Does anyone know a solution or work-around?

Any help or recommendation is appreciated!

Thanks & regards,

Markus

Hi Rick,

thanks for your help again. I installed the newest version but again the error message in the webcam application is the same.

I guess that the Windows standard driver for Win7 32-bit just does not work for the integrated webcam of my Latitude E6500. And Dell does not provide its own driver. :-(

I do not like this, but maybe I should surrender...

Thanks,

Markus

Markus,

I have someone trying to duplicate this. We think at this point that the Microsoft drivers are not working like they should be. Trying to see if the webcam manufacturer has Windows 7 drivers.

Hi Rick,

my webcam is no longer found by my operating systems. Instead my device manager is showing an unknown USB controller which cannot be installed. Therefore I guess the hardware is damaged.

It would really be frustrating if all the problems occurred because of a broken hardware and all the hours trying to fix the problem on software level were for nothing... But at least the problem could be solved which would make me quite happy!

Someone from our IT department will be looking into it next week - so cross your fingers for an easy solution! ;-)

I will let you know about the result of the hardware investigations!

Best regards,

Markus

USB devices like the webcam may not enumerate properly if the CHIPSET drivers are not installed.

Markus,

Try downloading THESE DRIVERS. After you have them saved, try right clicking on them, click on properties and try installing them in the Vista Compatibility mode

Markus,

Do you have Microsoft Silverlight installed? If yes, then...

Start, all programs, Microsoft Silverlight, webcam and mic

What happens here?

If you still cannot see anything, try uninstalling Microsoft Silverlight.

What happens?
