Vertical line on Inspiron 9300

I noticed a forum where lines on laptop screens for certain Inspiron seems to be a common problem.

Does anyone know if there are any recourses if the lines developed after 3 years. My lines developed

about 3.5 years after purchasing the laptop.  This is has happened many many times, I can't understand

why Dell won't replace these screens without so much blood, sweat, and tears.

Any advice out there?

Yep, I'm still waiting to hear back from another topic on this same issue. It would be nice if Dell stepped up and fixed this issue for me. I think I'm pretty much done with them if they do not though. In fact, Dell is all my company uses, I think I'll go show them this and see if any of our other dell's have this issue as well.

Come on Dell, step up and fix your issues.

sqlworks: From the many people who are getting their screens replaced over 4 yars after purchase and over a year out of warranty, it does not sound like there is a blanket denial of replacement. You may, however, have to put some time into it - I believe one posts said it was about a 30 minute call...

Since you've already called once, try the Unresolved Issues form below if you do not like the time on hold....

pbilly777: It appears your other posts have been deleted, likely due to a Terms of Service violation of sorts. As such, you will not get any response unless you repost minus whatever those violation were...

Same advice to you. Call once. If they offer to fix it, great. If not, get a case number and use the Unresolved Issues link below.

Good luck to both of you.

HELP!  I would appreciate it if anyone who has received a new screen after the 3 year recall period could contact me. I am getting the usual run around and they keep refusing to believe anyone has gotten anything after the 3 years. I'm in Canada so not sure if that makes a difference. But if you could contact me at.  it would be greatly appreciated..   Thanks

does anyone have a link to an actual recall notice or whatever?  My screen started showing one line around March/April of this year(I bought in Apr 2005, so its way out of warranty), and I tried to fix it by replacing the ribbon cable(which had been touted as a possible cause) but that didn't work.  The number of lines has steadily increased over the past few months and now parts of the screen are just covered with them.

I called up Australian tech support and they refused to acknowledge a known problem with this.  So a recall notice or something would be very useful.

There was never a recall, but this should help....

There was a recall on the 9300s less than 2 years ago.  I sent mine in and they replaced the screen. Of course now I have more lines.  I have not contacted them yet but if they don't replace for free, there's going to be problems.  I work for a company with around 10,000 employees and we use Dell laptops and desktops exclusively.  If Dell is not willing to fix THEIR mistake (for the 2nd time), then I will be advising my company to pull all their business from Dell.

Thanks for posting your info. Regardless, I know the letter I got said it was a recall. Period.    Either way, they are trying to jump ship on their obligations to their customers.  It's pretty screwed up.

It was not a recall. The warranty on the part was extended, but it was never recalled....

Good luck. If you are within three years of your purchase date, you would qualify for the free replacement screen.

Actually there was a recall because I received a letter stating they were recalling the 9300s for the issues with the screen.  I was past my warranty date and the letter that I received didn't say anything about extending the warranty.  Not sure what you got, but MY letter said they were recalling them.

I was able to have Dell replace my display panel after much discussion and after the official warranty period.  Insist on escalating the issue to Consumer Relations in Round Rock, Texas

First off let me vent by sayinf Dell is a joke of a company when it comes to consumer relations. Never have i dealt with a worse company, I am surprised they are still in business. They are completely unethical and will blatantly lie to your face.

This being said you can still get a new screen. Don't waste your time arguing, get a case # and fill out an unresolved issues form. They will call you back, insist on talking toa manager and getting your call transferred to headquarters in Round Rock Texas. Also mention the recall, this forum and the head of consumer relations Ronald Garriques.  Don't be surprised by anything you hear, they blatantly lied to me and said there were no managers and they didn't have the phone # to the headquarters and they didn't know where to get it.

Don't settle for anything less than free replacemet as they will try and offer you a discount etc.

Also,  thanks to other members here who greatly helped me out.

PS. my inspiron was bought in 2005 so dates and warranty periods have nothing to do with it.

I am not going to argue with you and I don't appreciate you calling me a liar.  Regardless of what YOU think (and I couldn't care less what you think) I KNOW there WAS a recall, as that is what MY letter stated.  I also don't care what they publically stated.  I KNOW what I got.  You need to stop acting so high and mighty, you are making yourself look like/sound really bad.
