XPS 15 9550 FHD with latest BIOS - 1.2.13 - fails to charge battery more than 60 percent

After updating BIOS to latest version (1.2.13), the battery only charges to 60 percent and then it stops.

- cable is connected and bios shows status as OK.

- if I disconnect and let the battery discharge below 50% the charging will kick in once I reconnect but will only charge until 60%

- tried changing battery modes in BIOS settings - standard / adaptive / express charge but regardless of which mode I choose charging seems to stop at 60%.

- behavior seems to be independent of OS as charging won't pass 60% even if laptop is turned off

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

But backing down to 1.2.10 from 1.2.13 DOES NOT fix the problem of charging above 60%.

They did release a new INTEL Video driver (which has an Audio Component) today so maybe the screen problem some were mentioning is fixed.

the new intel driver (v.4483) doesn't resolve the screen flicker issue.

It seems every Bios Update has one or the other issue :P Its borderline ridiculous. I rolled back to 1.1.15 and now I have the fans on (really loud) till laptop charges till 90% issue and presumably the USB-C issue which I have not checked yet. I wonder which Bios update is the best amongst the lot. Coz I doubt Dell even cares anymore.

Has anyone heard anything from Dell regarding how long before we see a resolution?

Also having the same 60% charging issue here.
Will call Dell tomorrow but the number of issues I've had with this "premium" machine is ridiculous.
I'm starting to seriously consider making the jump to Apple land.

VERY disappointed!

Ugh! I got my Dell XP 15 9550 yesterday, I intend to run Ubuntu on it but as it came with Windows 10 I thought I do the BIOS/firmware updates first.

Dell may have removed BIOS 1.2.13 from the website but their auto update tool downloaded and installed BIOS 1.2.13. So I now have a laptop that won't charge beyond a certain threshold either :-(

I have been a hard-core Dell fan for about the last 10 years. Every laptop was great... until this one... When I'm next due for an upgrade, I'll be having a serious look at the competition. Dell appears to have gone down the toilet from a quality point of view, and their support technicians are muppets.

This afternoon I had a new System Board, a 3rd Battery Installed and a input connecter for the charger installed by Dell contract services. When it was started up the BIOS was 1.2.14 and the Battery was at 31%. I left it plugged in and charging. I fully expected it to stop at 60% but due to the BIOS being new and beyond 1.2.13 numerically at least I was not sure. Well it took about an hour of charging and my Battery hit 100%. By the way the BIOS (1.2.14) was dated 8/31/2016. So Dell has finally come up with a real fix for the charging problem and it also appears the very minor display flicker is gone. WELL DELL MUCH BETTER TO BE LATE THAN NEVER.

presumably OAG1 is has been provided with a flame-proof suit and visor and is operating his machine with a bluetooth mouse and six foot dobber from across the room. based on past experience of escalating Dell bios excellence.

latest BIOS installed 1.2.14 to address the battery issue.

Screen flicker is much greatly improved from A10 and A13 but its the same amount of flicker as A06 - so still not fixed.
