Shutdown problems
Dell E7470 sudden shutdown confusion. I'm in need of expert help - please!
My Latitude E7470 suddenly gives a warning about very low battery then shuts down. BUT, I always run on AC power! The battery symbol even shows 97% when powered up again!
Having an internally fitted battery, it's not easy to disconnect, but would it be better to remove it completely and only use AC power?
At other times the laptop shuts down with only this warning: 'Shutting down' - why is this happening?
I've checked the CPU temperatures with 'Core Temp' and they never get above 47, but typically below 40. I can't be sure of the GPU temperatures though.
I'd very much welcome your thoughts & ideas - thank you.

The battery is weak and failing. You can remove it and try using the adapter alone to make the laptop a desktop replacement. Batteries can weaken or fail in only 18 months to 2 years now. See this -

Hi Mary G - many thanks for your thoughts & especially that helpful link with loads of useful info.
My battery showed zero but took less than 10 minutes to fully charge! I then ran a simply video to see how it would last using battery only - it ran down in 7 minutes! I've now removed the battery & will use only AC power, as the laptop never gets moved around.
I've reduced the screen brightness, dimmed the back-lit keyboard, & use a tiny system tray tool to turn off the screen. So far I've not had any more sudden shutdowns. Thanks again & kind regards, Niloc1017
