The SIM card does not need a driver -- but it also won't work without a WWAN module. Did you purchase a WWAN card that's compatible with your service provider's network?
If the system did not come from the factory with the optional WWAN card, before buying make sure the antenna leads are present - if they are not, you're better off with a USB WWAN adapter.

You need a WWAN card to use the SIM -- start there.
