Update on XPS 13/15 2016 Developer Edition availability

Any news on the availability for any of the new XPS machines in a Developer Edition?

And do you know exactly what specifications will be used? I.e. 13? 15? Ram/screen/etc.?

Thanks, Phil.

Hello,

I would like the ability to dual boot the new XPS 13. I was just wondering if that can be accomplished without the developer edition as I am needing the laptop as soon as possible. Would both the vanilla and developer edition both run linux in the same manner, and are there any other things I should be aware of? I would like to help fund project sputnik but I sadly do not have much more time to wait.

Thanks!

I live in France so I suppose I will need to be a bit more patient.... :)

Is there a github repo I can monitor to see that status of the dell dock and type c support? Curious to monitor these changes and also see when an a pull request upstream will be issued.

Will there be a DE with Intel Core i7 6560U since this CPU is available for the Windows version?

HI Barton George

Do you know if Australia will get the XPS 13 DE edition as I have not seen them here.

Hello,

I just wanted to see if there was any news on the release of this in the UK? Also is the hardware going to be exactly the same as the Windows edition?

When I called the sales line they said they've never heard of an Ubuntu edition laptop sold directly by Dell, I did try to explain that I was seeing it on the Dell website but he didn't seem to want to hear it.

I have the Precision 5510 and was wondering if there's anyway to set it up to switch automatically between Intel and Nvidia graphics? I thought I read that it does so on Windows and am hoping there's a way to do that with Ubuntu.

Thanks!

Check out the bumblebee project:

You'll have to launch your programs you care about switching with the "optirun" command. I've got it working on Fedora 23 - it was pretty straightforward. No way, as far as I can tell, to automatically do this without launching all programs with the optirun command.

Hi All

For UK based folks interested in the Dell Precision 5510 with Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS, it is now available on the website. I needed to get the US keyboard and the phone sales folks made it happen. Now waiting for it to arrive.

It is usually possible to set a primary GPU in the bios settings for people who wish to avoid the dual GPU setup.

Asking through the chat on the Dell US website, I was told that it should be out within the next 3 weeks.

Not sure how reliable the information is, but fingers crossed (and the sooner the better).

Trying to get back on topic, any updates on the availability of the XPS 13 DE (in the US)? Can someone just take the date they're scheduled to become available, add two weeks, and tell us that? Something is better than nothing.

Just requested information about the UK version here in Great Britain. Here the answer.

The developers edition as far as I have found out is not available in the UK region, it may be possible for the customer to install ubunut APOS

Hope it's available soon!
