Aurora R3 CPU Upgrade Question
I was thinking about upgrading my Aurora R3 from my i5-2400 to a i7-2770k and don't know what to really do. How do I remove the water cooling to get to the cpu, and once there and remove the old cpu, do I need to re-apply thermal paste? I have a P67 motherboard.

Your system is built with the Intel P67 chipset, which supports 2nd generation Intel Core processors, so the 3770k that you are asking about will not work, and as Chris stated above, the highest upgrade validated by Dell is the Core i7 2600. If you require assistance on your purchase, please send us an e-mail to Alienwareupgrades@dell.com with your service tag, contact information, a brief explanation of your request and the link to this thread, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

zViiNz,
The i7-2770k is not validated on the Aurora-R3. You could upgrade to the Dell (PVXXH SandyBridge i7-2600K 3.40GHz).
Removal Instructions
Yes, clean and re-apply thermal paste.

I can get the unlocked version of the processor though, right? The i7 2600k?
EDIT: Never mind, I didn't really notice what Chris said about the I7-2600k until now

Also, another question if anyone knows, if I buy the ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77, will I be able to use it with my current dual GeForce GTS 450's?
