Hi folks, I wanted to post to ask some advice if I can. I’ve had my Dell system since January 2006 but its recently started playing up. I just don’t know if there’s a glitch somewhere that’s wreaking havoc, or if the system has effectively *had it*. –Various people I’ve asked for advice have suggested that 2-3 years is the max lifespan you can expect. I’m just not convinced.

The system spec is; Dell Dimension DM051 Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4CPU 3.00GHz 2.99 Ghz 1.00 GB RAM I’m only using 25% of the available C drive space.

The problem generally occurs if I’m using Adope Photoshop LE along with the internet; in either Outlook or Explorer form. Its as though its running our of memory as everything slows down. I’m using Photoshop to crop and touch up photos.

It’ll let me work for about 30-mins, and then I get the blue screen crash.

The blue screen error was this; ** STOP: 0x0000008E ( 0xC00000A1, 0x80509F21, 0xB9BEF6AC, 0x00000000 )

So, I ran a disk registry check (Comodo) which found 1374 errors which it fixed. Restarted computer and tried again…

Then got this blue screen error; ** STOP: 0x0000008E ( 0xC00000A1, 0x80509F0D, 0xB99466AC, 0x00000000 )

So we have two new entries; not sure if thats progress!?

System log shows one repeating System Error (102) Event 1003

Application error log shows one repeating warning; Usernv Event 1517 User System

I’ve now run a full disc check and defrag, and run Comodo again (2 registry errors found and fixed). Now when I restart the computer I’m getting further error messages;

FATAL ERROR RegOpenKeyEx () failed!

And FATAL ERROR Load Failed!

Neither of which make any sense at all!! I’ve just bought a new version of Photoshop to install in case the existing software has corrupted; just waiting for that to arrive. Has anyone had a problem like this before? Is it possible that one program can affect the whole system like this, or do you think there’s an underlying problem somewhere else? I can surf the web, send emails, use MS Office etc all day long without problems, its just that all hell seems to break loose once I’ve tried to use Photoshop for a bit.
