I'll assume that these systems will support the Intel Conroe process which is schedule to be released in July.  If so, I would say some date in July would be it.

I got this from a sales rep from dell while getting help on purchasing a 600 (she said if money was not a concern, to wait till the 1st of june because the new rig...700... will be released that day)

Well that is the desktop, was there anything said about the laptop (xps mobile concept)? They could come out on the same day but they don't neccessarily have too. Is the 700 gonna be that ugly thing that has the leaning look they are showing? lol EEK!

We have not communicated any release dates for the concepts we showcased at the E3 show but please stay tuned.

Thanks!

Maybe "YOU" haven't! lol if you guys have not, you probably should give a heads up because me for one, I am getting tired of waiting! I will just buy something from someone else. I know you could care less about that, but I think a lot of people feel the same. Especially if they have been waiting since january 6th like me!

I doubt it...if you want the best (like all of us) you will wait till the 700 comes out...and Dell knows this...

I am talking about the mobile concept, not the 700!

Talking about the XPS-700 or whatever new name might be choosen:

I _personally_ think it's a bit unfair to leave these kind of a release dates behind smoke. If Dell's E3 appearance was a "showcase" for future trends and concepts it should be said clear and loud. In this case just like in the car industry the "concept" model is something that probably never going to be released for mass production. It is used to demonstrate features and elements...

However.

The XPS-700, especially after browsing through the micro-site on the web, suggests that it is something coming into mass production in the near future. Under this scenario holding back a release date can be explained by
either
- the sell-off / scale down of the existing model XPS-600
or
- dependency on some elements over which Dell does not have control...

Regardless, some more open communication on how and why these things are going to unfold would be greatly appreciated. Not only to put some clarity on the ground but also to save some unhappy customers who decide to order XPS-600 and then it gets "amortized" over 24 hours when the new model gets released...

It would also be worth considering to open up a "PRE-ORDER" period for the XPS-700 which can be beneficial for both sides:
DELL would have a good idea for production forecasting
CUSTOMER would have a clarity and understanding about how the top-of-the-line product roadmap is unfolding.

This is IMO what will happen for the xps-700

As we speak Dell probably dont know the exact release date, because they are waiting for Conroe release from Intel. But my guess is that the xps-700 will be release second or third week of June with a (2 week before delivery).

Whether or not this new marketing strategy by Dell works remains to be seen, but overall, they're coming off another bad quarter.

For the XPS line I think they could dramatically increase sales by being more reasonable on the pricing at the higher end (ie., not excessively gouging customers on the high end upgrades for processors, hard drives, vid cards, ram) and allow coupons back that can actually be used for XPS purchases.   Sorry, but it is all about price.

For example, go to Dell and max out an XPS 600 (Pentium D 950, 2gb ram, 2x7900gtx, 1TB hard drive, 20" lcd, 3yr warranty) and compare it to a Gateway FX510XT (Pentium EE 965, 4gb ram, 2 x X1900XT crossfire, 1TB hard drive, 21" LCD, 3yr warranty) and you will see.

I can't imagine it will be much longer.  I noticed they have stopped offering the high end extreme edition processors on the XPS 600 rigs.  Are they saving the remaining inventory for XPS 700 release as an alternative to the Conroe chips, or have their inventories dried up?
