hey chris M,
i'm not having the 100% fan problem anymore after my new i/o board was replaced. my fan adjustments in nvidia jump randomly all over the place though. do you want me to try this for mine? i'm back at 1.0.1 from 1.0.2. that's what came on the new mobo when it was replaced before the i/o board. post here if you want me to try it and i'll do it later when i get home this afternoon.

ps-thanx for the followup on this issue!
pss-according to dell, what updates and fixes are in the new 1.0.4 flash!??????

I also completed the procedure - better, no doubt, but I am having the same issues as skimmy now.
It is better, but still not a complete fix.
David
[also wondering why the reset pins are behind the fan - but built a harness out past the fan so that I can reset the master i/o card without removing the fan ;-) ]

Ok just tried it twice. My PCI/HDD fans are still jumping around.
Any other suggestions Chris?
Hopefully Mr. Scary will have better luck.

I hope this works with people having the fan issues. I had always been suspicous of that Master I/O board!
Good to see Dell finally issue a BIOS update with an explanation as to what is updates/fixes does:smileywink:

Chris, thanks for cleaning up my instructions in this post. It's much clearer now.
So, did Dell technical dept confirm that this is indeed a fix?

Mr. Scary. Its worth doing. When I move the slider its still random. But it seems to get closer to the speed I set then it use to. (For me anyways.) If I type the fan speed in it will go to that speed but the slider will not show correctly.
I think the slider is a problem with the nvidia software.
