Laptop Flashing Screen Problem

This a 2 year old XPS15Z (warranty expired) that is barely usable because of the flashing screen problem.  If I move the screen position it seems to resolve the problem but only briefly.  The closest "Dell Authorized" service person according to Dell website is 220 miles away.  I am a 75yr. old semi invalid so that is not a solution.  Anyone have any ideas or know of service person in central Ohio who may be able to fix this?

Hi Starbridge!

Sorry to see that. From what you've described, i would suspect the systems LCD cable has become loose or stressed, causing the flicker and regular functionality when holding the screen at a certain angle.

A fix may be to simply reseat the LCD cables connection to the motherboard / panel. I would not however suggest attempting this unless you're comfortable working inside the unit. This system in particular would require several components be removed to gain access to the LCD's cable.

Please see the service manual below should you reseat the cable your self.

If you would prefer a service option though we have a few options in the US, including onsite technician visits or shipping the system in for depot repair. Details of these service options can be found here:
