P2720D, DisplayPort does not connect, #2

Hello, yesterday I received my new P2720D monitor, and I have the same problem as reported in this thread. The HDMI connection works fine, but I really want to use the DP connection.

Yesterday I tried with three different laptops. All three have in common that they run Win10 as OS. My main one is a Dell XPS, that works fine with another Dell monitor at my office (which, unfortunately, I cannot use until mid-September).

The cable is a mDP to USB one. (See picture attached.). Today I borrowed another cable, identical to that one, but the problem persists even with the second cable. Unfortunately I have no way to test with another monitor.

Please let me know your suggestions, things to check, additional information about my system (and how to get it...). Thanks in advance!

That is not a mDP to USB cable nor is it a video cable. That is the #6 USB-B to USB-A USB 3.0 upstream cable as described on pages 7, 12, 13 in the online P2720D User's Guide.

The P2720D has the following video in ports as shown on page 13 =
#4 HDMI port
#5 DisplayPort

A mDP to DP cable looks like this =

But most newer Laptops have a USB-C out port to connect to the monitor via a USB-C to DP cable. Check your Laptops.
