Problem With Dell Display Manager for U2413

The DDM has a great Auto Set feature that allows you to set a Preset Mode for various applications.....like say sRGB for Adobe Photoshop Elements.  The AutoSet windows says right on it that you can add apps to it long list by simply dragging them (that is, their .exe files) onto the list (from the desktop, or WIndows Explorer, for instance).  That doesn't work when I try it.  Anyone else have this problem?  I am running on Windows 8.

This is likely because you are running DDM with higher privileges than the file you are trying to "drop" on DDM (installed with Run as administrator option checked?). Windows does not allow lower privileged apps to send messages ("I've been dropped") to higher ones when UAC (User Access Control) security is fully enabled.

Start DDM as a normal app, without admin privileges, and you should be ok.

If you really must have admin privileges, DDM also has a conventional "Add application" button that is hidden, but can be exposed - if, and only if, you are comfortable editing the registry - by adding and setting the value "BrowseBtn" to 1 (dword), under the key HKCU\Software\EnTech\DDM.

Yes, I had asked the same question of the support guys at Dell and they were unable to answer, so I also asked the support guys at Entech Taiwan, who apparently wrote the software.  They were at first unaware of the problem except for one other instance.  But over the next 2 days, they offered suggestions and ultimately duplicated the problem.  Their solution was the same as yours and removing the admin privileges did the trick!  Many thanks for your effort to help.
