U2415, video card VGA/DVI/HDMI, not working?

Hello. I just got a U2415 monitor and a new computer (not Dell) for Christmas. Yesterday when I tried to connect the monitor, I could not get it to work. My graphics card has a VGA, DVI, and HDMI connection. The cables that came with my monitor are a DP to mini-dp and a  USB 3.0. I had an HDMI cable on hand, but I cannot get the monitor to work with the HDMI cable and there is no connection on my graphics card for a DP connection. How do I connect the monitor? I've been on hold for 15 min with Dell and cannot get help.

Thanks!

The U2415 has two HDMI in ports. When the computer is on and you are connecting via the HDMI to HDMI cable, did you press the U2415 Menu button, go to Input Source and select both HDMI, one at a time?

Chris,

I did do that based on one of your replies in another post. However, I got the message "no HMDI detected." It is the same message I was getting before when there was no DP detected.

And only ONE video cable is connected to the video card at a time, correct?

* Turn the monitor off
* Disconnect all cables from the monitor including the power cable
* Press the monitor power button in for 30 seconds
* Reconnect all cables and retest. If still no go, get it exchanged

Chris, Dell phone/FB support (which leaves much to be desired) told me to buy a converter cable, DP to DVI. I declined. My computer OEM told me I likely did not have a HDMI 2.0 cable and recommended I buy one. He thinks it will solve the issue. Do you agree?

Thanks for your help.

A DP to DVI cable will not work in your case. A video card DVI out cannot upconvert to a monitor DP without adding an active converter. A straight DP to DVI cable is designed to do the opposite =
video card DP to monitor DVI

It is possible that a newer HDMI to HDMI cable could work.

Video card HDMI out --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> U2415 HDMI in
Video card DVI out --> DVI to HDMI cable --> U2415 HDMI in

Oh, I am so frustrated. I went out and bought a brand new HDMI 2 cable. I disconnected all cables and power cord. I pressed the power button for 30 seconds while off. I plugged the cables into the monitor and then into the computer. I used the OSD to set the monitor to HDMI 1. Then I  booted the computer and turned on the monitor. All the monitor says is "Entering Power Saving Mode".

I tried the exact same process with the HDMI 2 connection. Exact same result. I just don't understand what the problem is.
