U2722DE, flickering frozen image problem

I got 2 months ago a U2722DE. After my 1 month vacation without using it, today I had a frozen image ghost flickering problem. I was going to start working and after less than 5 minutes of work, time to boot the windows and to log into cisco any connect, all my desktop was frozen into a flickering image.

After using the monitor, the frozen image disappeared, but as soon as I returned to the desktop, the frozen image returned flickering. It is more visible in gray, brown, blueish backgrounds.

I called to Dell warranty. I've made all the procedures and send them the videos and photos that I took. They will replace my monitor but didn't explain what happened.

It is bugging me, because I'm afraid that this problem is some problem with the model, and if it is true, sooner or later it will begin on the future replaced monitor.

This is an expensive monitor, of a reliable brand, and issues like that shouldn't happen. Everyone that I talked about never seen this before. I really want to know what and why this happened.

The only way that the issue could happen is that you left the Windows desktop up in a static setup for a very long time.

Are you saying that you are not using a screen saver after 5 minutes of non-usage?

You also could have run the Menu- Others- LCD Conditioning (online U2722DE User's Guide, page 76) to see if it fixes the leftover images.

@JohnLMV ?? I use a screen saver after 5 minutes of non-usage on both my Area-51 R2 and Latitude 5520.

I have had this same problem, the first time it was under warranty and I exchanged the monitor for a new one.  Now the second time the monitor is 2 years old. Not sure I should buy a Dell again.

@DELL-Chris M  I have two Dell monitors, one is fine, also the third monitor from a different brand is fine. Yes my screen saver is on. The issue does not explain the flickering.

I had this same problem and was able to return the monitor under warranty; and now today the replacement has failed in the same way.

I turn off and disconnect my monitor whenever it is not in use, and my screen goes to sleep. This is definitely not an issue of failing to use a screensaver correctly.
