Create NFS subdirectory under /backup on Data Domain
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but there doesn't appear to be an "official" Data Domain forum.
Trying to add an nfs client to the DD and create a new subdirectory under /backup for the client. However, cannot find any way to create the subdirectory under /backup:
nfs add /backup/rman/wam csf-wam-int.domain.org
** Directory "/backup/rman/wam" does not exist. <=====
NFS export for "/backup/rman/wam" added.
The directory /backup/rman exists (created by our former backup administrator, but didn't do any knowledge transfer), and other clients have subdirectories under it:
nfs show clients
path client options
--------------------- ------------------------ ----------------------------------------
/backup bog.domain.org (rw,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,secure)
/backup estuary.domain.org (rw,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,secure)
/backup/rman/bog bog.domain.org (rw,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,secure) <====
/backup/rman/poseidon poseidon.domain.org (rw,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,secure) <====
/backup/rman/tartan tartan.domain.org (rw,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,secure) <====
....
How do I create the subdirectory /backup/rman/wam on the DD for NFS export? All documentation I have found only shows how to create CIFS subdirectories.
Thanks.

Hi Mark,
I don't know why there isn't a data domain forum, there are plenty of times where I need dd info.
What I did was created an nfs export for the "backup" mtree and gave a server access to it. Then I mounted the nfs mount on the linux box and manually created a sub folder. I unmounted the "backup" nfs mount, went back into the enterprise manager and made an nfs export for the subfolder I created, removed the permissions for the "backup" nfs mount, and added the permissions for the backup/subfolder nfs mount.

Right, that was df command from a Linux box that I mounted the NFS share from DD on. I wasn't trying to enforce a quota, I wanted to know if there was a way to add more space to the /backup folder on the DD. But I take it from your answer, all available disk space is already shown, and the only other option is to add more physical disks to the DD, correct?

Now, I guess my next question is.. how do I add more space to the /backup folder on the DD.
dd-csf:/backup/rman/csf-wam-dbms 22446392832 17343152640 5103240192 78% /OracleBackup
Currently at 78% and that's before these three new servers start writing to it.

What you're looking at is the total amount of space available on the dd box, i'm guessing the output of a df command from the server it's mounted to. I don't think you can give a "quota" to a certain folder.

Thank you! I went a slightly different route, but pretty much the same thing. I just mounted the /backup directory from the DD on a host that had access to it (in this case BOG), then cd'd to the rman sub-directory, and created the sub-directory I needed (wam). I then went back to the DD and then I was able to successfully add the clients without the "no such directory" error message, and they mounted just fine on the three respective hosts.
Cheers!

That is correct, either add anther shelf to your dd box or get bigger drives for the shelves you have.
I think 2tb drives are the largest drives the dd supports... i think....
