Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

I have never dealt with such an a terrible customer service department, I ordered a laptop as a birthday present for someone, when I ordered this I checked the expected delivery date and this was just before the birthday so decided i'd trust Dell and order online rather than visiting a local store and walking out with the laptop of my choice.

The order was confirmed and still quoted the delivery date before the birthday, the very next day I received another email this time moving the delivery date to after the birthday, now I've spent my customers money on a laptop which is useless to them as they will be making a special trip to the persons who's birthday it is on their birthday, they will now be going without the birthday present which has put me in a very embarrassing situation.

I've emailed customer services who appologised and said no problem as the laptop will be delivered after the date I need it for? what planet is this person on, I need it by a date any date after this is a problem.

I've spoken to 3 lots of customer services on the phone who refuse to help and all they can offer is telling me to cancel once the laptop has arrived after the date I need it for???? am I going crazy is this how they should be treating customers, obviously after this experience I can't trust Dell with any future orders so they've lost my business and anyone who asks me in the future who to buy computer equipment from.

I thought times were tough for companies like Dell in this time of recession and credit crunch can they afford to upset people in this way, all I was asking for was for them to meet the agreed delivery terms or cancel the order and refund me the money, I gave them two choices and they decided to take none of them.

How long can they continue to treat people this way before we all hear about them cutting staff and going into liquidation

Wow. this number worked like a charm after calling the regular CS line.  It took about 45 seconds once I told the rep what I wanted, and it showed canceled online within an hour.  I desperately wanted my i7core machine (drying eyes, see slamming config below).  The 24" monitor was 40% at $204.  Still using a CRT; bummer.  But a looming divorce settlement makes this not the best time to make this purchase.  :-(

If you want great (and I mean Great) service when buying a laptop buy from John Lewis, you get a standard 2 year warranty.

I took my daughters laptop back to JL where I was treated like a customer should be 1 year and 11 months after buying it, because HP couldn't replace the motherboard JL told them to give me a full refund, £999 paid into my bank 23 months after buying the laptop, that's customer service all others should aspire too.

I Can't believe Dell think they can carry on treating people like this, with the Credit crunch and the global recession you'd think they'd be trying to win customers with a good reputation, do you think we'll be seeing Dell going bust? who knows, they deserve to the way they treat people, if anyone wants to report their sales tactics and customer services to watch dog please let me know I'm more than happy to give my feedback.

Good luck to all those that need to cancel their orders, my present missed the special 60th birthday it was purchased for, I'll remember that for the next 60 years...

This is the most pitiful thing Ive ever seen from a company. Does Dell understand that their support is so terrible that people are actually comming to the support forum and basically begging and pleading with the only "real" support person they can find in all of Dell asking for help?  (phone, email, etc) One person, (Debbie G).  I just got done with the so called "support" call. It was useless. Absolutely useless. Email,...dont get me started on that, it'll take days to vent on that subject.  One nice ting about support forums, its in english. If this were the Dell phone support line it would look a lot different.  Let me demonstrate...

Owlow, ow r yew? MI nAim iz bdeep bedop bedoop, aye aim yewr costamer soport raprezantative. Lat mee tlanzfor yewr gall tue a zuparvizoor due assisst yue.

Translation: Hello, how are you? My name is Jane Doe, I am your customer support respresentative. Let me transfer you to a supervisor to assist you.

Thats what its like on your phone support lines. Pitiful. No help. Frustrating. Not just because of the poor english speaking reps either. They can't/don't know how to help with a problem. Terrible.

Well, Dell thinks that they have too many customers, losing few unhappy ones won't hurt. Also, let customers cancel their orders easily won't help their revenue anyway... ;-)

No need to be unhappy, if you are buying from dell because it's cheap, then expect to be treated as second class. Otherwise bring your money to other companies, and you might get better service.

Hi all,

Check out the storm room forum. It is not just new purchases that are bad. every aspect of customer service is the same, and so is some of Dell-on-call. I honestly believe most just type in your problem into a database and then just do what the computer tells them. Every now and then you might get someone who really seems knowledgable but most sound like they are reading from a script. Anyway I agree we need to fight back. after over a week on the phone for hours I finally filed with the bbb. My issue is over $100, and a lot of people just get to frustrated and give up. I wonder  how much money the nightmare that is Dell customer service when the customer just finally can,t take it anymore and gives up adds up to in a year . Anyway just wanted to say keep up the fight, and check out the storm room. Bella   BTW I am going to call the # posted for US reps maybe I will finally get somewhere

They might not be a member but you can still file a complaint, also on other posts look into some government agencies. Now dell will not give you a corporate address on the phone but the Austin Texas bbb will. Dell is in roundrock texas.   bella
