Add NVMe drive to Optiplex 3050 micro

It looks like I will need part DHR6X to add an NVMe drive to my OptiPlex 3050 Micro.  Does anyone know where I would get that part, and if anything else is needed (screws, etc?)

Parts needed for M.2:

Installation instructions found here

Nice find @speedstep .

And I'm all for doing things "by the book" but actually, I see no mention of this in 3050-Micro PDF manual. Also, I still might be tempted to use a nylon spacer and proper metric screw. If nothing else, seems like it would hold better.

There's an updated storage driver

Version: 14.8.0.1042   Date: 12/14/2015

(IRST F6) to include PCIE support.

( to enable Windows to recognize the drive during installation )

M2 mounting with plastic SPACERM2 mounting with plastic SPACER

Driver applies to windows 7 or 8 or 10.

Obtaining an ISO Image:

For some systems Dell provides operating system images through Dell Hosted image

Obtaining an ISO image:

For some systems you can obtain Dell operating system images through Dell Hosted image

Note: not all systems and service tags will have an image available for download.

Note: Even though Dell Hosted Images have USB3 drivers slip streamed in, they may not include the IRST driver at this time. ( some may know this at the F6 driver ). As a result you may need to install the IRST driver manually during the Windows install process.

Looking at page-15 in PDF manual, it appears that the M.2/PCIe/NVMe SSD simply installs in the motherboard M.2-Slot with a metric screw.

Of note, this is how it usually works (with other machines I've seen).

When you opened the OptiPlex-3050 Micro to install the SSD, what was missing or stopping you?

The spacer must provide the M.2 mounting screw location (or replace the need for it somehow).

So I guess the question is, where do I find that part?

The spacer does not use a screw.

Will this also work with a 3040 micro? It has an M.2 slot on the system board, but I don't see any other specs for it.

I'm having this same issue on my 3050-SFF. Installed a M2 2280 WD Green, and it doesn't even recognize on BIOS. Tried to update BIOS but no luck.

Any luck with this problem ?
