Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF Multi Display

I have an Optiplex 7010 SFF with a GT 1030 and trying to setup a dual monitor display on Windows 10, so 1st monitor is connected from a DVI-D output which has DVI-D to VGA adapter then trying to connect the second monitor from the HDMI output which I used an HDMI to DP cable and whatever I do it's not getting detected.

Everything Is connected in the graphics card output and I already enabled multi-display in the BIOS.

HDMI to DVI-D is bi directional

No conversion needed.

Display port is NOT bi directional.

You will need to use 2 digital or 2 analog monitors to not have issues.

That's odd, I'm running two systems with two monitors each has one HDMI (digital) and one VGA (analogue) connection. (Granted neither is a 7010)

? Do you have the relevant ports enabled in BIOS ?

? Are the resolution and scan rate (set in Windows) senisble defaults for the monitors concerned ?

Would it work if I plugged this adapter onto my monitor and have the HDMI cable from my GPU plugged it in?

or do I need an HDMI to VGA adapter which I'll plug into my gpu then connect it with a VGA cable to my monitor?

Apparently, I'm not sure if my other monitor is analog, though it has an output of VGA, DVI-D, and DP so I'm guessing it's an analog. Though I recently bought a VGA to HDMI which I'll be receiving soon, I'm not sure if that would work or I would've needed the other way around which is an adapter for HDMI to VGA.

What relevant ports in the BIOS? The only option I enabled is under the Video tab which enables the multi-display though it says only support Windows 7 and 8, though BIOS is already updated to the latest so I'm pretty sure that's already patched.

I'm not sure about what you meant, can you give me an idea of how to properly address that issue?

I believe what the last question by bj11213 meant is - You know how you can change screen resolutions in Windows?  (It's in settings.  If can't find it, use search bar in settings window.)  Make sure the resolution isn't beyond what the monitor can handle.  However, Windows should have no trouble detecting your monitor's resolution.

Your correct about BIOS.  Enabling multi-display is an option; it doesn't have the option to turn on & off specific display ports.

Another community member or expert will have to answer about adapting the monitors though.

Is multi-display on in Windows?  I think it's the same screen where you can adjust resolution - It shows how many monitors are detected.

Not too many adapter questions I can answer in relation to monitors - haven't had to do it.  What I can answer though is GPU card installed automatically disables onboard graphics.

I only use the monitor's optimum resolution, like I said when I plugged in the cable DP (Monitor) - HDMI (GPU) cable it wasn't getting detected even tho I tried the one in the settings where you can detect multiple displays. Aside from that, I even plugged a VGA cable from the onboard graphics to the monitor and still doesn't show a second display.

I think the only solution I'll have is if I try the HDMI to VGA adapter I ordered online and if it'll work as a converter from digital to analog.

I'll try plugging the adapter I posted onto my first monitor and if it works I'll let you know, cause if it doesn't then I might have to order the HDMI to VGA adapter or HDMI to DVI-D cable.

I'm expecting the cable by tomorrow or the other and I'll update you on what happens.

I'll consider this once I tested out the adapter i bought doesn't work.

"HDMI to DVI-D" always works.

Either way.  Its bi directional and plug and play.

No drivers needed.
