Dell Optiplex 7010

Hello. I have a optiplex 7010. I was told I could upgrade my ram so I bought a ram stick that was 8gb. Every time I put this ram stick in my pc power button blinks orange and I can’t turn it on. When I take the stick out and put the original ram sticks in the pc works again and turns on. How do I fix this?
