Dell Optiplex 7040 Sudden Shutdown Issue

Hello,

We have an issue with our Dell Optiplex 7040 devices here at work.

The computers seem to suddenly shutdown out of nowhere several times a day, it is updated to the latest windows 10 version.

We changed the power supplies for the devices and the issue was not solved.

Kindly provide me with any possible solutions if possible.

Thanks,

Try replace cmos battery with brand new cr2032.

Clear cmos settings via motherboard RTCRST jumper.

Are any of the 7040's plugged into a UPS (uninterrupted power supply)?

Hi,

The 7040s are plugged into their own PSU (Power Supply Unit) and directly into the electrical outlet.

In that case, I'd go with @redxps630's suggestion.  Here it is in more detail:  How to Perform a BIOS or CMOS Reset and Clear the NVRAM on Dell Computers

If it's a BIOS problem, hopefully that takes care of it.

Another idea is make sure the 7040's have the latest BIOS version.  Follow redxps' and link suggestion first.  A weak battery can cause random problems.  BIOS updates have to go absolutely perfect.
