Upgrade Dell computers to Windows 10
Hi all,
I'm working as an IT in a company. And we are willing to upgrade our desktops from Windows7 to Windows10.
I tried to install Windows10 in a variety of types of UCs, for tests at first.
For Optiplex 3020 UCs, once connected to the internet, Windows10 is activated automatically.
As for Optiplex 3010, I tried Windows10 in two machines, once connected, it has been activated in one of them but not in the other.
So my question is, how to tell in which machine Windows10 will be automatically activated?
For the two 3010 UCs, based on their Tag number, they both have the same shipping date.

From what I see on computer forums, Activation has nothing to do with the hardware.

Use windows 10 1803 media and do a clean install. Should work fine.
All installs should use the "I don't have a key" option.
Then from ADMIN COMMAND PROMPT run SLUI 3 and manually enter the key from the WIN7 coa sticker.
This will work one time. HOWEVER you cannot use a coa key over and over and over and over. Its for one machine only. You cannot transfer this to another machine and re activate.
Activation is done by Microsoft not Dell and Dell does not issue new keys when you lose the old one or its defaced etc.

Well, you are 2 years past the cut-off date, so you are not allowed to complain :Smile: or be surprised when you have an isolated glitch. Obviously it still works.
As @speedstep says, clean-install Windows-10 Pro 64bit and it should work. In the beginning, enter the key from that machine's Windows-7 Pro CoA sticker.
