based on your mobo DP/N you have 7010 MT.

to officially upgrade to win 11 you need at least intel 300 series chipset motherboard and at least intel 8th gen cpu.  the 7010 case can accommodate a standard microATX board after modifying Dell power switch.  Unfortunately Dell does not offer any standard form factor board in optiplex for 300 series chipset.  All optiplex board after 7020 become proprietary in form factor and cannot be swapped in 7010 case.  you can certainly consider non-Dell 300 series mobo and i5-8400 or i7-8700 if you want to keep them in 7010 MT case which uses standard ATX 24/4 pin psu.  you also need to upgrade desktop ram to ddr4.

Also, check out the 1st two pinned threads at the top of the Optiplex forum, mainly referring to Dell-Chris M's post.

Many posts already in regards to 7010 and Win11.

If you search, you might find how a few or some other users installed Win11 on a somewhat older/older Optiplex.  Something to do with VM and/or bypassing hardware checks.

Good Morning,

All right, so to my understanding, I would need to update the RAM, Motherboard, CPU, and the power system? at that point, would it not be better off just to get a new computer and transfer the files? To my previous knowledge, all I needed to upgrade was the CPU.

Thank you and take very good care!

Good Morning,

I do apologize for clogging up the forms. I also am looking for the option that is without any hacking and workarounds, as I do not wish to risk it on a primary device.

Thank you and take care.

@The0rangutain

There are ZERO Cpu upgrades to support Windows 11.

You must do all the updates to get to WIN10 21H2 or clean install 21H2 and then do all updates.

Then install the health check app.

Not supported by Dell or Microsoft.

You can hack the registry and turn TPM 1.2 on and get it to install.

You will need to download and burn a dual layer DVD from the windows 11 multi ISO page.

Ways to install windows 11

Warning:

Microsoft recommends against installing Windows 11 on a device that does not meet the Windows 11 minimum system requirements. If you choose to install Windows 11 on a device that does not meet these requirements, and you acknowledge and understand the risks, you can create the following registry key values and bypass the check for TPM 2.0 (at least TPM 1.2 is required) and the CPU family and model.

Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup

Name: AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU

Type: REG_DWORD

Value: 1

Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

Then do the WIN11 ISO from the WIN11 page

It does work but neither Dell nor Microsoft or I are going to answer 50 questions and do it for you.

Good Morning,

How would I do that? As this is my first post to the forms, I am rather inexperienced. All help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you and take very good care!

You dont need to upgrade anything but windows from 10 to 10 version 21H2.

Then download the 64 bit ISO for 10 and 11.

Then hack the registry with mosetup.

Then turn TPM 1.2 on.

Then burn a dual layer dvd at 2x or 4x speed max from the windows 11 iso and boot windows 10.  With the windows 11 dvd in the drive DISCONNECT from the internet and run the windows 11 setup from the windows 11 dvd.

I did this on machines as old as 2006 with pentium D 915 cpu and 4 gigs of ram with upgrade GPU QUADRO K600 and SAMSUNG 870 EVO 500 GIG SSD.

You will want to use SSD rather than hard drive because its really slow otherwise.

When you install 11 if it asks for a key say I don't have a key and use the key from your windows 7 home or pro COA.

If you have windows 8 key in bios it wont ask you it will just install with a warning.

So even your Optiplex 755 will upgrade to windows 11 just fine.

Not suppported does not mean not working.

Personally I would download the WIN10 and WIN11 ISO files and save them because microsoft may decide to make it not working for what I described so far. For now it works and its doable.

that option is to replace entire motherboard and cpu/ram as pointed out earlier.

the work around option is quite straightforward and installs Win 11 smoothly.  done this multiple times and it feels like genuine Win 11 experience.  https://github.com/AveYo/MediaCreationTool.bat

Very old thread, but I was able to turn on TPM in the BIOS setup under security. With that enabled, I was able to boot from a windows 11 pro USB drive and install on my Optiplex 7010 with lower specs than the OP had.
