Dell System Detect Setup error

Hi everyone, need to get DSD working on servers to obtain their service tags but on every attempt to do so error message "An error occured attempting to install DellSystemDetect." appears. Find DellSystemDetect install log attached (log.txt).

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Is there a reason that you must use DSD and can't get the Service Tag another way (like running wmic bios get serialnumber from the Command Prompt)?

Hi theflash1932, you nailed it!

Took me like 10 secs to parse one line, then copy - paste the serial number onto Dell's website and voilá. I'm purchasing on upgrade parts for my servers.

Thank you for demonstrating how CLI is much more powerful than graphic interfaces. Don't want to be illiterate about CLI on Microsoft environments no more. Would you be so kind as to provide one or two links where I can educate myself in the use of the "under the hood" Windows aspects?

Exploring the Command Prompt, starting with help, is a good way to learn.  There are some other places to find stuff:

Thanks again TheFlash1932,

I'd also like to add a link to a great website on WMIC content, hope someone else finds it useful.
