Help with upgrading memory
I'm trying to replace a pair of 1 GB ECC Registered DIMMs (that are fully working) with a pair of 4 GB ECC Registered DIMMs on a Poweredge T310 with an Intel Xeon X3440 processor.
However after installing the 4 GB pair, the server showed error codes 1 and 4 and would not power up the screen.
Re-installing the 1 GB pair results in the T310 working fine again.
Assuming the 4 GB DIMMs are working fine, has anybody experienced the same problem with T310 servers
and is there a solution to it?
Thanks.

I'd suggest to check out that link I provided and take a look at the dimms there. There is some info there on the specs.
I'm not sure if there is a place with 100% the exact specs, but you may be able to piece them together using Dell's spare parts sales pages, Crucial's pages and maybe the online manual for your server.

Did you buy your memory from a vendor that guaranteed compatibility with the PowerEdge T310 (e.g. Crucial's T310 page)?
Even if the specs seem the same, a too high or too low latency or another minor spec could cause incompatibility.

Yes, I bought one that guaranteed compatibility albeit from a small private vendor. Where or how can I find the specs for latency and other minor specs (a) before I buy and (b) if I already have the DIMMs? Thanks.
