iDRAC 7.00.00.171 - R440/640 not showing up in iDRAC System Update, plus error when manually install

Howdy.

So I have R440 and R640. When I checked for updates using iDRAC System Update it tells me the following, using HTTPS > downloads.dell.com (this is on my R640)

However, as I updated my R440 manually, iDRAC showed and error but updated iDRAC to 7.00.00.171. But if I do same as above in System Updates I get this:

I think the iDRAC 7.00.00.171 is broken. Also not quite sure why iDRAC System Update not seeing it in the catalogue, but when I got to support.dell.com and run my service tags I get the availability of this updates for my systems. Both system are running BIOS v2.20.1 which is latest available for both R440 and R640

Hello,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I didn't see iDRAC 7.00.00.171 for any server in the catalog.

I will report this to our Systems Management team.

Hello,

The most recent catalog was completed and uploaded before 7.00.00.171 web posted.

It should be in the catalog that will release this week or next week's catalog.

I have the same problem on our R740 [and r640], Dell-RM [3.4.4.908] has the iDRAC 7 version listed for this system but the device's system update does not find it in the catalog. Catalog updated today, I can see it in the catalog list.

Hello,

From your images we can see it is in the catalog and on the R740 support page.

Have you Refresh repository

Page 22 : https://dell.to/4bWI6HM

Does 7.00.00.171 apply if you try one manually?

Yes, I have Dell-RM set to automatically update the catalog. I just ran a manual refresh today and am having the same results. R740 does not see the new iDRAC version yet.

Does 7.00.00.171 apply if you try one manually?

Can you explain more where the R740 does not see the iDRAC 7.00.00.171 update?

The screen shots seem to show it for the R740.

And the catalog date 2024-02-16   has it listed for the R740:

Line 11163           <Display lang="en">R740</Display>

Line 11273   <Package path="iDRAC-with-Lifecycle-Controller_Firmware_TNYR2_WN64_7.00.00.171_A00.EXE" />

@DELL-Charles R in the iDRAC interface > Maintenance > System Update tab. The Warning screenshot is from the iDRAC's GUI on the R740. Hope that helps!

I have not tried to update the iDRAC firmware manually yet, as I usually do that via the Dell-RM repo catalog process.

Any concerns for incompatibility here ?

Will Dell-RM catalog repo continue to be broken  ?

iDRAC 7.00.00.171 is compatible with the R740 as seen on the Driver and Download page.

What Warning screen shot are you saying it is on?

I don't see that on the images unless you are talking about the Driver and Download page show red triangle "This driver also has urgent, older versions"

If so then those would be rolled up in the current version.

this warning is from the idrac system upgrade page when attempting to find the new idrac version in the latest Dell-RM catalog  https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/poweredge-hardware-general/idrac-70000171-r440640-not-showing-up-in-idrac-system-update-plus-error-when-manually-install/65c90b0a0658ac4637d65ec8?commentId=65d7ae86852b887ad609a856

the new version does not show up, though it exists in the catalog and it has been exported to the share.

back to where we began the conversation, full circle.

if it helps at all, I searched and checked the latest catalog manually after downloading it, and systemID="1813" is not found in there, which is the ID of this r740 idrac .

Hello, I think this means a mismatch between your version and the repository version. Dell website versions change and the repository grabs from the DB.

Ok, so I added Windows OS back to the repo components and now the r740 can see the new idrac in the catalog, though this does not make sense as the idrac should be OS agnostic and it was even showing up in the Linux list. We are using a Linux host as the OS if that matters.

Can anyone explain why this happens? It doesn't make any sense to me.
