PowerEdge T310 Memory Upgrade 2*8GB - no reaction, no POST Codes
Hello,
I have a Problem with a PowerEdge T310.
I bought 2 Kingston KTD-PE310Q8/8G as an upgrade,
which are equivalent to DELL P/N A3116521 (2*8GB) and compatible according to Kingstons Compatibility Lists.
When I insert the modules, the system doesn't start. The fans work, but that's all.
The Display doesn't get a signal and I don't get any kind of POST Code.
The Problem disappears when I replace the modules with the original 2x2GB modules.
A BIOS-Update didn't help.
How can I find out if it is a compatability Problem or if the memory is damaged? Any hints are welcome.
Thanks!

Which processor do you have? The Celeron and Pentium processors (which are options on the T310) do NOT support RDIMM's, and support only a max of 2GB UDIMM's.

Thanks for the quick answer. It's a Core i3 540 from November 2010.

Sorry ... I should have included the i3 among the processors that do not support RDIMM's. You need one of the X34xx processors for RDIMM's (and thus, greater than 8GB of RAM).
