R640 with jbod raid
I have no raid controller internal as of now and no OS loaded. I would like to run the r640 with a raid jbod setup.
From what i can tell it looks like that I am only able to use the h840 and md14xx for more storage. Is this true or do I have another option?

In order to use a MD1400 it has to be either passthrough or HBA mode. . You need an SAS 12Gbps Host Bus Adapter External Controller. You can see from the link what works for R640.
However
"H840 does not support passthrough or HBA mode. For connecting MD1400 in HBA mode to the server you need to use SAS 12Gbps Host Bus Adapter External Controller." This won't work with JBOD, I'm afraid.
