I'm not aware of a method to set the host name via racadm. The host name is pulled from the OS, I was not aware you could manually set the host name anywhere aside from the OS itself. Here is an excerpt from the CMC RACADM guide:
NOTE: The host name and OS Name fields in the getsysinfo output display accurate information only if the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator is installed on the managed system. Else, these fields may be blank or inaccurate. An exception to this are VMware operating system names, which are displayed even if the Server Administrator is not installed on the managed system.
your command configure the iDRAC it self which most likly have a different DNS (name and ip) as the installed OS.
We are facing the same problem as the OP when it comes to OME which take the unpoplulated OS Hostname (because no OMSA installed) filed within the IP of the discovered object.
i only want to point out that the 2 racadm commands from a above doesnt solve the problem and that @DELL-Daniel My postet the solution already. The field info OS (Host)Name cant set manually and is automatically inherit from the OS above when the requirements are meet (OMSA installed or ESXi).
Applications like OME have than some trouble and have to use a fallback. The Admin scratching head about interesting and incomplete Hostname when looking to the Device list in OME.
