Noobie Q on RAID
Hi,
We have purchased a used R610 with iDrac 6 Express controller, 6 HDD. I don't know the PERC version. (Where can I find it?). We want to create a RAID 6 but now 4 drives show as foreign. How can I completely clear the RAID configuration including foreign drives.
I have not been able to connect thru Open Manage. Is there another way from the console?

Hello
You should receive a prompt during boot to enter the controller BIOS. It usually states which controller you have on that prompt. OpenManage Server Administrator will also provide details, like which storage controller is installed. Make sure you install OMSA on the host OS and not a VM. You can find the downloads available for the system on the support page of the server.

Choosing the clear option on foreign configurations will delete the virtual disk descriptors from each drive. This should move them from a foreign to a ready state that will allow you to create a virtual disk. When you figure out which controller you have you can review the manual for more information.

Got it figured out but thanks iin particular for telling me where to install OMSA. I wasted a lot of time on that.
