Problems converting from raid 0 to raid 1
I'm been trying for sometime now to convert a single drive in a raid 0 configuration to a raid 1. The server (PE2650 with a perc 3\di) has a raid 5 configured using disk 0:1,0:2,0:4 that contains the os. Disk 0:0 is currently in the raid 0 configuration and would like to mirror it with the newly add disk 0:3. (I would really like to avoid making an image of the drive and then recreating the virtual disk and restoring the image!)
OpenManage Array Manager 3.4 is currently running and I attempted to use the Reconfiguring wizard. But it only gives a raid 0 option.
I can think of a handful of reason for this to not work and I was hoping someone could say which one is the actual problem.
Reason 1 - The new Drive is 15k and the one that I’m attempting to mirror it with is a 10k.
Reason 2 - The new drive says 34.25GB and the other is 34.18GB
Reason 3 - The two drives are not in order in the server, like it would be mirror of 0:0 and 0:3
Reason 4 - maybe the array manager is too old?
Thanks in advanced for you time.
