ESXi on NX1950
Hi,
Is it possible to install ESXi 5.5 on an NX1950? I'm thinking of drivers..
And is 8GB really the max on this server?

ESXi 5.5 will have all the necessary drivers native for a server this old.
The 8GB was probably the maximum Dell sold that unit with, but as it's basically a PowerEdge 1950, it can support much more memory.
The problem is that it uses fully buffered DDR2 memory, which tends to be fairly expensive (compared to the registered DDR3 memory that more modern servers use) unless you buy it second hand on Ebay or so.

Hello FamousRuler,
So the NX1950 came with windows storage server. Now the hardware in the NX1950 is similar to a PE1950 server. Now although the NX1950 won’t show ESXi5.5 as supported OS, I have seen some customers that have gotten it to work. You will have to load the correct drivers for the NX1950 for ESXi & you should be able to get it to install.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
