MD3000i replacement disk showing "Replaced"
Hi there,
We have an MD3000i that is soon to be replaced but it has a failed disk that we need to resolve in the meantime. We have a certified replacement disk, but the array isn't reconstructing. the disk is showing as "Replaced".
The reconstruction initially started but then stopped. I have tried SMcli issuing "start physicalDisk [0,2] reconstruct;" but it started and stopped again.
The array is showing as degraded, not failed.
Any ideas?

Hello Dave,
If you look in the recovery guru what errors are listed? Do you have any hotspare drives configured on your MD3000? What is the raid type of the virtual disk? What is the dell part# of the drives that you used to replace the failed drive?

Hi,
Sorry, I'm not at work at the moment. From memory the guru only reported 1 failed disk and 1 pending failure, then I replaced the failed disk. The array is raid 5. There is a hotspare but for some reason it's not even rebuilt onto that.
I can have a look in the morning to check the errors and the part number.

Hello Dave,
Not a problem. Since you have a hotspre drive it should have rebuilt to that one unless that is the other drive that is pending failure. When you look at it in the morning, can you also tell me the current controller firmware?
