PowerVault ME5 Controller Host Interface Card Compatibility
Я хотел бы запросить разъяснения относительно совместимости сетевых карт интерфейса хоста между модулями контроллера Dell PowerVault ME5.
В настоящее время у нас имеются следующие модели контроллеров:
N2GF7 – Контроллер Dell PowerVault ME5 25 Гбит iSCSI Type B;
K3F8W – Четырехпортовый контроллер Dell PowerVault ME5 10 Гбит iSCSI Base-T.
Мы хотели бы узнать, можно ли физически переместить и использовать в модулях контроллера N2GF7 карты интерфейса 10Gb Base-T (RJ45) от контроллеров K3F8W.
Наша цель — заменить 25-гигабитные оптические интерфейсы в паре контроллеров N2GF7 на 10-гигабитные интерфейсы Base-T путем переноса интерфейсных карт с двух контроллеров K3F8W. Другими словами, оба контроллера в системе хранения данных будут модифицированы одинаковым образом, чтобы система работала как двухконтроллерная конфигурация 10-гигабитных интерфейсов Base-T.
Пожалуйста, подтвердите следующее:
1. Поддерживается ли данная конфигурация оборудования официально компанией Dell?
2. Будут ли контроллеры N2GF7 распознавать и корректно работать с интерфейсными картами 10Gb Base-T от контроллеров K3F8W?
3. Существуют ли какие-либо ограничения по прошивке, лицензированию или оборудованию, которые могут препятствовать правильной работе данной конфигурации?
4. Если поддерживается, какие рекомендуемые процедуры или меры предосторожности следует соблюдать при выполнении этой замены?
Мы будем признательны за подтверждение.

Thank you for your reply.
To clarify, I am not replacing the controller modules themselves.
I would like to move only the removable Host Interface Modules (10Gb Base-T RJ45) from K3F8W controllers into N2GF7 controllers.
The controller hardware itself would remain unchanged.
Could you please confirm whether the Host Interface Modules are hardware-compatible between these controller models?
In other words, will the N2GF7 controller boot and recognize the 10Gb Base-T Host Interface Module from the K3F8W controller?

Hello Andrey hdwr,
You can swap them and it should work. One thing to note is that when the controller boots it scans to see if any changes have happened. By changing the host interface modules, you will need to update the firmware to match the module. You might get other alerts or errors as well.

1. Since the system was purchased one with one set of controllers it has to remain with that type of controllers to be supported.
2. When you change the controller type there is a chance that you might have to do some reconfiguration.
3. Their might be an issue but, would have to look into your specific case to know for sure.
4. If you are going to do this I would recommend that you back up everything before you start.
