Unable to expand disk array on Storage Server NX3230
Hi,
We recently purchased some additional drives for our NX3230 to increase the capacity on one of the existing volumes. I've gone into the Lifecycle Controller to find a way to add these disk to the existing RAID configuration, but the only options seem to be to wipe the existing configuration and start from scratch. Does anyone have and information or guides they can share that explain how to expand the array/RAID?
Cheers,
Mark.

Hello Mark,
What you will need to do is to go into the perc bios and in there it will allow you to expand the virtual disk. What you need to be aware of is that your NX3230 is going to do a restripe of the data to all the drives. When the data is being restriped, your virtual disk is going to be a raid0, until the restripe is complete. A restripe is a low priority process, if you are using large size drives the restripe can take a long time to complete. It is best & fastest when adding drives, to backup all the data first, then destroy the virtual disk. Once virtual disk is destroyed then create the new virtual disk with the correct size.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
