Precision 5820, compatibility with 3080 Ti video card?

I have a precision 5820 Tower, I want to upgrade video card to a GeForce 3080 or 3080 Ti. The user manual states it is compatible with 3080. Is that also applicable to 3080 Ti? Also, are the drivers going to be the same with non-Dell brand video cards?

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti was never tested by Dell with the Precision 5820.

The Dell internal SPMD tool for the Precision 5820 shows the following OEM 3080 video cards =
YHCVR MSI GeForce RTX 3080 LHR (DP/DP/DP/HDMI)
4T0Y2 MSI GeForce RTX 3080 (DP/DP/DP/HDMI)

They would use the RTX drivers from our Precision 5820 drivers page.

A different brand RTX 3080 can be used, as long as it's a name brand, like PNY for one.

I also found a 5820 running an RTX 3080 Ti in userbenchmark.

Thanks for reply was very helpful, just wondering what letters before the graphics cards mean 'YHCVR' and '4TOY2'?

Hey thanks @bradthetechnut for answers also the other topic https://www.dell.com/community/Precision-Fixed-Workstations/Dell-Precision-Tower-5820-XL-GPU-Upgrade-to-RTX-3080/m-p/8360564#M13636

I'd like to make sure about a thing,

as @DELL-Chris M mentioned, dell oem tool suggests MSI RTX3080, does it mean any form of msi rtx 3080 would fit in the chassis? e.g. suprim x, trio etc.

I checked the dimensions of P4000 and it is smaller than rtx 3080 forms, I'm afraid I buy the 3080 and it won't fit

Google the dimensions of the particular 3080 you want to buy and measure inside of your 5820.  Allowable GPU card dimensions might also be in the Precision 5820 Owner's Manual online .  You'll likely have to measure.  I was looking at the owner's manual I have and didn't find the specs.
