Dell Precision m4800 GPU not working in Windows

I have installed the NVIDIA Quadro m2200 MXM-A card into my Dell Precision m4800 Workstation, and it shows in device manager. Only problem is it shows that it has reported problems (error code 43). I have Windows 11 but also tried 10 with the same result. I read on other discussions that this is the best card that is supported w/o driver modification. I have tried many driver versions and none seem to work. Programs don't even see the card in Windows.

I have verified the card is good as I ran Linux with it and Linux was happy, also ran a render test on the web in Linux. The fan kicked on and I could feel the heat coming from the GPU cooler, telling me the GPU was working. Kinda stumped because I thought this was just supposed to work? The last image is the event viewer and what it says, I don't know what to do. I do have the newest BIOS version for the laptop. Another thing I discovered is if I disable "switchable graphics" in BIOS all displays don't show anything. I have to remove the CMOS battery to get a display again, don't know if that is normal or not. I am stumped and hoping to get it working!

I stand corrected. It was not working in linux. Cpu-x showed the card, but nothing about it, just the model #. What could be causing this issue?

Hi Shawn,

I'm having exact same issue! Have you had any success in getting M2200 working on you M4800? I also thought that it would an straight forward swap but does not seem to be.

Regards

I got a different laptop, and dont 100% remember how I got it to work but I did. One thing is update the BIOS of the laptop and see if that helps. If not I have another thing but try this first.
