M6500 FirePro 7820M Poor Benchmark
I have several M6500s with FirePro 7820M which benchmark about 70% higher than the FX2800M, plus use half the power. I purchased a used 7820M from a large online auction site. Received it. Replaced the FX2800M with it. I had uninstalled the FX2800M driver before the swap. I put in the FirePro 7820M and it seemed okay, but when I benchmarked it, I only got 20-25% of the frame rate on the other computers. CPU, RAM, SSDs, HDD all benchmarked where I expected. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled, but same performance. Uninstalled the driver, swapped the FX2800M back in the machine and it benchmarked at the correct performance level.
I was getting a 7.8% rating on cpu.userbenchmark on the other 7820Ms, but 1.8% or lower on this 7820M. I am shipping the odd one back tomorrow.
Have any of you had a 7820M with abnormal performance?
On a side note, I had purchased an i7-920XM to upgrade CPU about 25%, but it had bent pins, so am returning it. I had three other 920XMs that all installed perfectly.

Hi @lambdapro2, thank you for writing to the Dell community. Request you to private message us the system details along with the software you are using to benchmark the FirePro.

Do the basics: Display Driver Uninstaller, reinstalling Windows, checked the temperatures? Is the card clocking to 700/1000 Core/VRAM correctly? Are you on Win10 or Win7? What drivers are you using? Dell's old (and hilariously outdated) drivers or AMD's newer ones?
There's also this guy on YouTube who has a M6500 Covet with a FirePro M7820 and a 940XM, maybe ask him?
