OS recovery tool not working
I have a Dell Precission 7820. I upgraded the machine to support NVME drives which works fine. However, at some point in coping the Windows 10 to the Samsung NVME, a problem began. I can no longer see the DELL logo appear on startup. Selecticing F2 stalls the OS which then does not load and no bios appears. F12 comes up, but no tasks work. selecting any task stalls the computer. the video is on, but the screen is blank. I assume the UEFI is corrupted.
I wanted to do a fresh install using the OS recovery tool. After follow the instructions, I put in the USB with the generated software. I was suspicious as the download was too fast to get the full windows 10 install on the USB memory stick. With the USB plugged in, I restarted and nothing happens even when computer is left running all night. The blank screen appears. I do not think the OS was installed on the USB recovery tool. I then switch to just downloading the OS which did took the time expected to download, but with the software on the USB installed and the computer restarted, same result. I can shut down, restart the computer and the origonal install software works.
Can you fix the OS recover tool?
Can I recover to a formated empty disc without a system OS installed on any drive?
My computer is within basic warrantee. Can I call for help?
Thanks, Richard Post
