Precision 5530 painfully slow

I've had a Precision 5530 for a couple years now and had the parts swapped under warranty but this workstation is absolutely draining. The battery doesn't last longer than 2 hours unplugged and it takes a couple minutes to open a simple app as google chrome with continuous app crashes. The log in time has always stayed around 10 minutes which is absurd for a laptop of this power. However, this morning I turned the laptop on at 8:10 am and it is now 8:57 at the time of this posting and it's still loading on the welcome screen. I need serious help because my warranty is over and I don't have the opportunity to buy a new laptop.

Batteries don't last for years now. Use the adapter all the time to see if speed improves. Even remove the battery and try the adapter alone. Most newer computers can run like that. See this for more--

Some laptops use a battery as an additional but required energy reservoir to achieve full performance. Without battery performance is limited then. However I would like to start from software level - reinstall OS and check if it is OK or not. If not then run Dell diagnostics test in UEFI/BIOS and then online diagnostics test on Dell website related to your Precision. If they are OK you can make double check: RAM (you can disassembly one RAM module if you have two and check if there is any difference) and SSD (you can disassebly also and check performance in some other laptop or PC). If this does not help grab battery some replacement for a while or just send it to Dell to diagnose.

If Diagnostics won't detect any issues , simply reinstalling windows might help. If not, upgrading to a new SSD might solve that issue. Otherwise, there is not much to do.
