Precison 7510 Docking Station Problems

Hi all,

I have had an issue with a few Precision 7510 laptops and would like to see if anyone knows resolution.

I'm only able to utilize one DisplayPort monitor and one VGA monitor but not both DisplayPort ports at the same time.

Here are what's been tested and findings:

• Tested another 7510 on docking station in question with success
• Tested this 7510 on another known working docking station setup with NO success
• Updated BIOS, chipset drivers, storage drivers, Thunderbolt drivers and firmware
• Tried direct connection from 7510 HDMI port to monitor
• Tried toggling discrete graphics only and tried with built-in Intel graphics enabled in BIOS

• Using VGA and DisplayPort works but VGA not acceptable to end user and wants better quality digital output
• I overcame other 7510 problem with single DisplayPort daisy-chain enabled. Current Dell monitors don't have daisy-chain outputs. They only have video input.

I have not tried updated graphics drivers which I want to do but other said 7510s didn't overcome this issue with updated graphics drivers. They are correctly installed with AMD and Intel drivers, just not latest. I think unlikely video card driver issue.

I'm using this docking station with correct 12.3 amp power supply

This laptop is under warranty but I'd like to know what Dell will actually do. It has been sent to Dell in the past, has had Win 10 re-installed, components replaced by Dell?, still not displaying the dual (digital) monitors.

Thanks,

Jason

I would update the video drivers. Did you look in Device Manager on both your machine, and the one that worked on your dock and compared the version numbers?

When you have the laptop docked, and you right-click on the desktop and bring up the display settings, are you able to enable multiple monitors and extend the desktop between the two displays?

Make sure you select a refresh rate and display resolution compatible with the displays.

Normally I would say, delete the display driver and reboot and allow windows to install the correct driver, but if you don't have up-to-date driver, that seems problematic.
