Dell V313 AIO printer; scanner & copying problem

Good evening everyone,

First, I should mention that I am new to this forum.

I have a Dell v313 AIO inkjet printer which is just over one year old now.  After replacing both the black and color ink cartridges, I am experiencing problems with the scanning and copying functions.

When I attempt to scan a document into a .pdf file or make a copy of any document, the document comes out with a medium gray-coloring over the entire page.  (The text is visible under the gray shading).  I have no problem printing out existing files I have.  They all print out normally.

I can find nothing in the help manual regarding this problem, hence my reason for posting this.  I would greatly appreciate any assistance on how this problem can be corrected.  (I have already performed ink cartridge cleaning and cartridge alignment).

Thank you for your time and review of my inquiry.

Pete C.

Question was answered via info provided on ANOTHER FORUM SITE!  Turns out this has been a consistently-reported issue by many owners of this model Dell v313 AIO printer.  Every source I have checked shows consistently POOR ratings given by users for this printer!  It is not hard to see why Dell NO LONGER provides driver updates; support for this printer...and has DISCONTINUED IT FROM THEIR INVENTORY altogether!   NO more Dell products for me!

I appreciate the info Rick.  I should have been more specific in my posting, as I had already tried everything shown in the two links you provided.  Nothing works.  The problem still remains.  The Troubleshooting tips I had also reviewed and nowhere in there does it mention a problem resembling what I'm experiencing...unfortunately.  Since I have no problem printing out documents on my computer, I tend to think the problem is hardware-related.  This gray coloring over an entire document is occurring only when I scan the document into a .pdf file AND when I attempt to use the printer's copier function.

Pete,

This happens when you scan a document to Microsoft Word, correct?

Can you edit the document bfore yousave it as a pdf?

Let me see if I can be more clear here.

When I place any type of paper document on the glass plate, scan it & save it as a PDF file (NOT MS Word),  then open the pdf file to view the document, it will display the document with the gray-colored shading over the entire page.  Any text in the document is visible under the shading.

There is no EDITING involved here.

When I place ANY document on the glass plate and press the button, the copy produced comes out with the same gray-colored shading over the entire document...the same problem as when I scan any document into a pdf file.

If I bring up any file in "My Documents", whether it be a MS Word document, Excel document, picture, etc...I can print them out fine,  There is no gray-colored shading over the entire document.

I hope this is clear enough, as I don't know how much clearer I can state the problem.

Pete
