hp4500printer will not recognize windows live e mail

Hi, I know this is Dell forum, but I'm reaching out in desperation? I've been a member here for a long time. I use a insp 546 with win7(only bought this because Dell would not acknowlege the capacitor problem w/ 510,which became junk) So much problem going to win 7 from XP. . Ok, I bought a hp4500g(ink is cheaper), I use win 7 (64),my issue is the printer will not support the windows live e mail program on my system? (I've been to hp 3x,with no solution). I know PUGGY & crew are smarter. My friend has XP and OUTLOOK,and it works ok. My problem is,,there is no scan to e mail direction from the printer, I have to save everything to a doc first then to e mail? For some reason the printer will only recognize Outlook?, although HP says it should work? ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED. Thanks

schlo,

I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my default email program. Did you try...

Start, control panel, default programs and set Windows Mail as the default email program?

schlo,

Don't think you can scan to a web based email program. You need to install a program, like Windows Live, Mozilla Thunderbird, Outlook, Etc...

schlo,

You'll need to download Windows Live Mail and use that application to scan to. It should setup to your email account.

schlo,

You also setup Windows Live to work with your email account, correct?

Without posting your email address, what is the last part of it, like hotmail.com, msn.com, etc?

schlo,

The settings are the the same as using Outlook Express, you could use Mozilla Thunderbird, I do.

schlo,

What are you trying to scan?

Do you have an OCR Program installed? How to tell, scan a document under the glass and send it to a Microsoft Word(Open Office swriter) Document. If it works, then you do have the OCR Program installed.

I just tried to scan to my email account and it opened Mozilla Thunderbird with no problems(I actually never tried this before). I don't have my comcast.net email address setup for Windows Mail as I do not monitor the comcast.net account. I use ONLY my many gmail accounts to send and recieve emails. The only issue I have with Mozilla Thnderbird is it sends only from the one gmail account, even when you switch the sender account to another one.

I have no problem scanning  from the printer & sending it to my doc & printing from there..I cannot scan directly to my e mail application(win live  e mail), As it stands when someone gets my mail, they have to open the attachment..If I could scan directly to my e mail,it would be different.. I would really not like to change my e mail program, Hp says this should work with win live(no help getting it fixed),,,,
