MS Works 9 update needs works9.msi
The update asks for the installation CD. Of course I don't have it as it was pre-installed on my computer Hybrid 140g.
Is this file on my hard drive someplace that I so far have not been able to find?
Is this an MS problem or a Dell problem or just MY problem?

Download this file: Microsoft Works; try to use it to repair any install then reattempt the update.

I have the same problem when attempting the update -- I am prompted to insert a CD. Will the above file work on my computer, too? Inspiron One Windows 7-64 bit. Is there anything I have to do before opening the file? Thanks for your help.

My system is Win 7 64 also. The program deletes and re-installs Works 9. You don't loose and documents etc. It should work for you just fine

I want to thank you for the info you provided. God bless you! It worked great and now I have my MS works 9 back.
The only thing that was working was the processor. The task launcher refused to open. Now it opens in a flash. Thank you. Thank you.

I have been struggling with this update for MONTHS... I just decided to really get down to it and research it. Thank you so much! I was about to redo my whole computer before I found this.
