RM & VMWare vSphere - Consistency for VMs and Apps?

Hi there,

got an interesting question from a customer in regards of RM & VMWare...

Does the  (doesn´t matter if it is local or remote) replication controlled by RM (in combination with Clariion or Celerra) of any VMFS-Datastores with Proxy Discovery provide also application consistency for e.g. Exchange?

Of course this is given if we use the appropriate RM-Agents (like Exchange Agent) and we then have also the advantage of using those application specific replicas for other purpose (e.g. single mailbox recovery). But my understanding would be that using VMWare Proxy Discovery Replications on VMFS-Level only provide crash consistent replicas in regards of the applications installed?
